Mountain/Gravel/Road/Cyclocross Coach

Working with Neal has taught me how to train smart. By structuring the work in a balanced way, his coaching has taken my performance to a new level in a fraction of the time that I thought was necessary to be a highly competitive cyclist. I can trust that Neal’s training plans will eliminate the guesswork so I can line up with confidence and race to my fullest potential!

Coach Burton's guidance and down to earth approach was extremely helpful in helping me achieve my mtb endurance goals. I have become a stronger more consistent racer with more confidence all while feeling like I am doing less work then previously. From training plans to, pacing, and nutrition, Coach Neal has had a huge impact on my results!

I have been coached by Coach Neal for four years now. In that four years, I have seen a transformation in my riding that I never imagined possible. I believe in Neal so much I have recommended him to everyone who asks about coaching. His knowledge, willingness to pivot, and problem-solving ability have impressed me. Furthermore, I have raced side by side with Neal. Watching the power he can put down only secured my confidence in Neal as a rider, racer, and Coach. Neal is a five-star kind of human and coach. I can't recommend Neal enough. If you want to improve at any level, Neal is your guy!

I'm not a racer but someone who likes to remain fit, ride a lot and not get injured! My goals with Neal over the last few years have remained the same, to be able to ride stronger for longer and without getting injured and he has delivered! Couldn't be happier with the results and would recommend for both non-racers and racers!

My son started working with Neal at the age of 15. Neal has been an excellent coach and has been really good at introducing my son slowly to a structured training plan, without overwhelming him with too much distance or intensity too soon. We spent the first season working with perceived exertion and heart rate vs power, which I was supportive of. Heading into his second season, he introduced power as a training tool and he gradually increased intensity and duration of training. I believe this is critical to developing a well rounded cyclist and preventing burnout. Neal has coached my son, who is primarily a road cyclist with a focus on cyclocross, throughout mountain biking, road and cross seasons. Even though Neal's specialty is coaching mountain bikers, he has been an outstanding coach for a road racer as well. He has also integrated appropriate levels of rest and cross training between seasons. I am so happy that we chose Neal as a coach and look forward to seeing what progress the two of them make together

I reached out to Neal to help me prepare for a long bikepacking trip this summer.  I imagine I am one of Neal’s older athletes at 58 and I found his training plan challenging but achievable.  The combination of gym work, riding and Neal’s enthusiasm and support for my goals provided me with a fitness level that led to a successful trip.  I look forward to continuing my partnership with Neal to improve further for my next adventure, and who knows maybe even a race or two!
